One of golf's most hidden gems, The Dunes Club, resides in New Buffalo, Michigan. Opened in 1995 by Bandon Dunes developer Mike Keiser with the design aide of Dick Nugent, this 9-hole, ultra-exclusive club has no sign from the road. The Dunes Club was built in southwest Michigan, an area known for its famous sand dunes. Its property reminded Nugent of Pine Valley, and the similarities are noticeable. Nugent was able to capture Pine Valley's ruggedness in the bunkering.
A unique aspect of the Dunes Club is its 9-hole design. Numerous tee boxes allow players to play 9 holes and come back for a second 9 that have a completely different feel with new tee and pin locations. Enjoy a tour of golf's best 9-hole course below.
