WIth one last event before the FedEx Cup, expect a lot of interesting golf. You have players vying to finish inside the top 125 in points to earn exempt status for next year AND advance to the first round of the playoffs. Other players who are comfortably in the playoffs may look to try and jump up the standings this week with a good finish. We may want to keep all of this in mind as we select our golfers this week:
Bud Cauley $7,000
He sits 143rd in points and is in need of a high finish to retain his card. Even though he has missed the last two cuts at this event, he has shown the ability to contend on this track as evidenced by his 3rd place finish in 2012. Add that to the fact that he finished 8th last week at the Deere and you now have yourself some pretty compelling reasons to play Cauley this week.
Tyrrell Hatton $9,400
Most golf fans in the U.S. may still not know who he is, but if he keeps performing this well he may soon become a household name. He has recorded top 20 finishes in 9 of his last 11 events including top 10s at the British Open, PGA Championship and the biggest event on the Euro Tour (BMW Championship).
Rafael Cabrera-Bello $8,900
Bello, the ultimate model of consistency has only had one finish outside of the top 52 all year!!! (He missed the cut by 1 at the Players shooting -1!!!) He's fresh off a top 5 finish at Rio and looking to grab that first victory in the U.S. He is known as a great ball striker which should yield excellent results this week as the course rewards players who control their ball.
William McGirt $8,700
Now that McGirt has that first win under his belt, I wouldn't be surprised to see him win again this week. He has great course history, finishing in the top 15 the past two years. He has been playing well ever since his win at the Memorial. During that time, he also had top 10s at the PGA Championship and Bridgestone Invitational.
