Nailed it

Journeyman David Skinns leads the Tour finals after an opening 7-under 64 in Boise. The stellar round gives Skinns one shot over Sangmoon Bae, Fabian Gomez and Martin Trainer. Entering the third leg of the four tournament finals, Skinns ranked well outside the top 25 in 87th, but a win would vault him into 2nd and guarantee a card. The volatility of the four-week sprint will provide great drama over the weekend. Full scores

Checking in with the Dutch

The European Tour is in the Netherlands this week for the KLM Open. China’s Ashun Wu (-7) holds a 1-stroke lead over Chris Wood (-6) while Eddie Pepperell, Soren Kjeldsen, and others are close behind at -5. Some mainstays from the PGA Tour are also in the field this week while after the PGA Tour season ended for them prior to the FedExCup Playoffs. Leaderboard

Evian Championship

Carlota Ciganda and Maria Torres are tied for the lead at -6 through one round of the Evian Championship. The LPGA’s final major of the season is off to a strong start with 16 players within 3 shots of the lead. Georgia Hall is the only one of those 16 ladies who has won a major this season. Leaderboard

Augusta National Women’s Amateur

Augusta National announced on Wednesday that NBC Sports will broadcast three hours of the final round of the ANWA in April. The broadcast will be Saturday, April 6th. The news comes as a semi-surprise since CBS has been the long-time broadcaster of the Masters. Regardless, it will be interesting to see what an NBC broadcast of Augusta will look like next to a CBS one.

Charming LuLu

One of the lesser-known Philly area golf clubs is LuLu Country Club. Designed by Donald Ross in 1918, this old school gem is one of the most enjoyable rounds in the country that the public has access to. Andy stopped by during his recent trip to Philadelphia and broke down what makes LuLu so special. Check out the drone footage to see detailed images of the uniqueness of Lulu. Full article.

Tadd Fujikawa

Although he hasn’t been on the PGA Tour scene in quite a while, Tadd Fujikawa made waves this week when he became the first professional golfer to come out as gay. In a sport that has been stereotyped as not being accepting of different ways of life, it is an encouraging step forward. Tadd’s Instagram announcement has been met with tremendous support and hopefully can be a stepping stone for more acceptance within golf.
