Tiger Ventures

Tiger’s new venture

On Monday, Tiger Woods made yet another non-golf related announcement, giving Fast Company the inside scoop on the formation of his new business entity TGR Ventures. The new company will pull his foundation and golf course design business all under one incredibly ugly logo and umbrella. Speculation is that the venture could potentially dabble into the equipment industry, with rumors linking TGR as a possible TaylorMade buyer. It also could possibly be the first sign of Tiger moving further away from competitive golf...

Off to Malaysia

This week, the PGA Tour heads to Southeast Asia for the CIMB Classic at newly named TPC Kuala Lumpur. While the CIMB’s field is small (78 players), it boasts one of the strongest of the wrap-around portion of the PGA Tour season with 10 players in the top 30 of the world golf rankings. The headliners include world number 6 Adam Scott, Ryder Cup hero Patrick Reed, the Spanish Armada Sergio Garcia and Rafa Cabrera-Bello and defending champion Justin Thomas.

What happened in 2K15

After a season of close misses, Justin Thomas finally found the winner's circle, though it wasn’t easy. Thomas looked to be in control late during Sunday’s round but found the water on his second shot at the par-4 14th, leading to a double bogey and losing control of the championship. Thomas quickly rebounded to birdie 15,16 and 17 to head into 18 with a 1-shot lead over Adam Scott. On 18, Thomas was able to make a 6-foot par putt to earn his first career victory.

Paulie has 4 DraftKings picks for this week’s CIMB as well as a few one and done picks for those fantasy players who do more than the popular DFS format. Check out who he likes in the small CIMB field here.

4 weeks left

With just 4 tournaments left before the European Tour’s season-ending DP World Tour Championship, the Race To Dubai is heating up as the top players on the European Tour jostle for position while others try to earn their way into the top 110 in the rankings before next week’s Turkish Airlines Open.

This week, the European Tour is in Portugal for the Portugal Masters, the final event before the Race to Dubai playoffs begin. This year’s field is headlined by a pair of European Ryder Cup members and the hottest player on the planet with defending champion Andy Sullivan looking to earn his first win of 2016, emerging star Thomas Pieters set to launch some missiles off the tee and Alex Noren looking to pick up his 4th win in his last 9 starts...plenty to watch.

The University of Florida rolled right through to the prestigious Tavistock Collegiate, played at Isleworth C.C. in Orlando. Florida came into the tournament ranked 10th in the country and used stellar individual performance from Alejandro Tosti, who won the individual title, to win by 11 shots over number 3-ranked Vanderbilt. Also in the field from the top 10 included North Carolina who finished 5th, Texas Tech who finished in a tie for 6th, and Illinois who finished in a tie for 8th.
