Through one round in Palm Springs, PGA Tour rookie Dominic Bozzelli leads the CareerBuilder Challenge after opening with an 8-under 64 on PGA West’s Stadium Course. Bozzelli's round is particularly impressive considering the Stadium course played a full shot harder than both PGA West - Nicklaus Tournament and La Quinta C.C. Chasing Bozzelli are four players at 7-under, Patton Kizzire, Hudson Swafford, Jhonattan Vegas, and Harold Varner III with none of the four having played the tougher Stadium Course. (Full Scores)
Phil is back!
Despite undergoing two sports hernia surgeries in the past four months, Phil Mickelson decided to tee it up in the CareerBuilder opening up with a solid 4-under 68 on the La Quinta course to sit in t25th. The round is remarkable given how little the injury has allowed Mickelson to play or practice leading up to his first start in 2017.
Mickelson also made headlines by debuting a new logo on his rain jacket, a silhouette of the Phil leap. When asked about it Phil remarked, “We’ve been working on something that we’ll be involved with last in the year that I’m not really ready to talk about.”

New year, same Stenson
Through the first round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, a familiar name is at the top after Henrik Stenson lit up the course to a tune of an 8-under 64. The hot round gave Stenson a two shot lead over Martin Kaymer, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Marc Warren and Oliver Fisher. While Stenson was clicking on all cylinders, high-profile Americans Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler both struggled to an opening even par 72. Round two is underway, follow along with live scoring.
